There sure some nice muleys north of Moses Lake
« on: August 17, 2008, 05:11:43 PM »
In the 100+ heat yesterday, we were walking a piece of land for one of my wife's clients. Apparently, there has been talk that there were a lot of deer on the property. Those deer must have seen us coming and walked over to the property next door. On our way we saw one muley with an estimated 28 inch spread and 8-10 inch tines. Then when we were within a half mile of the land, we spotted 8 4 and 5 point bucks next to the road. Their points were only 4 to 6 inches and the spread was only 24 to 26 inches, although one may have been wider. They were only 50 yards away and we were scoping them out with binoculars.
Some still had some velvet. It always is a sight to see when 8 4+ pointers in a group. If I had not made other commitments for opening weekend I would not mind trying my luck on one of those. We did not see any does. All of the sightings were around 1:30 pm.
Gathering is easy. Hunting is a challenge.

Only 24-26? Thats not bad for Washington bucks!!!

I have a Methow buck that is only 24" wide but still scores 181, #80 typical in this state and only has 3 that score more mass and has 6 1/8" bases. Don't let lack of width keep you from scoring a buck of a lifetime. ;)
The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first!

I would venture to guess that you were on Hansens land, 201 Buckrun. He has some good bucks out there but they will cost you.

Rumor was it was up for sale last year, but I didn't hear if it fell through.
